This is the least that President Hugo Chávez has uttered to refer to the US government. In urging the Bolivarian Armed Forces to prepare for war, he said that a US raid on Venezuela through Colombia would trigger and spread over the region "the 100-year war."
Economy
Data released by the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV) show that Venezuela non-oil exports in the third quarter of the year amounted to USD 919 million, the worst result for a third quarter of the year since 1997. In fact, non-oil exports are 40.5 percent below the level achieved in the third quarter of 2003, the year when employers went on a work stoppage.
Politics
Guillermo Zuloaga, the CEO of news television network Globovisión, said that President Hugo Chávez ordered the judiciary his arrest under any pretext. The Venezuelan government has repeatedly accused Globovisión of "sickening" viewers and "inciting violence."

Colombia's Defense Minister Gabriel Silva announced on November 20 that his country will avoid any provocation from its neighboring country after Venezuelan soldiers blew up two pedestrian bridges across Colombia-Venezuela border. Silva stressed that Colombia has plans to ensure security.
